During the Diamond in the RAW Foundation Program I have learned that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. This was an excellent program and opportunity for me to do something that I would love to do in the Future. Every time there was a session we always had a homework assignment that was due. Then after that we had mentor minute. It is when Ms. LaFaye Baker invites a lot of people that is working in the entertainment industry some kind of way. This was fun and also informative because I got a chance to interview these mentors. I had asked them certain questions such as what made them to choose their career, how long have they been doing their job, and some other questions that had come to my mind at the moment.

When we went on the field trip to Lincoln Heights I didn’t really know what show it was until I saw the clips of the show inside the editing room. This was another excellent opportunity because we had got the chance to go through all of the stage setups. They gave us a tour on where everything was actually set up. At that moment I had realized that there are way more careers in the entertainment industry. There are about 15 categories and each of them has certain requirements to get promoted. All the people that we met have told almost the same story on how they worked as someone’s assistant and now they have an assistant helping them out with the production.

Then we went on another field trip to North Hollywood where the post- production house Encore Hollywood was located. We have gotten a tour around and learned about what they do after they finish shooting. This was a new experience for me because I learned more things than I expected. We went into the color technical room and learned how they can manipulate the colors on a certain item or change the colors of clothing’s and the background etc. This gave more options on doing something else in the entertainment industry.

We did an activity and we were in different groups. Our challenge was to come up with a story on whatever we picked out of the box. The story had to be catchy, so my group did our presentation and we won the challenge. Then Ms.Denise Jaxon had helped us with a script. We had an audition for the main characters. I got lucky and was selected for the role of Danielle in the movie. Danielle was the mean girl and she thought she was the boss of everything and everyone. On the day of the shoot day it required a lot of patience but at the same time it was fun for me because I was able to be an actress. I really didn't want to be an actress but it was just a workout. What I really want to do is costume design and stage make-up.

This program over the summer has taught me not to give up on my dreams. I want to Thank Ms. La Faye Baker for giving me this wonderful opportunity to give me more ideas on what I want to do in the entertainment field. I also want to thank everybody that was a special guest. This gave me motivation for everything I do and to achieve in everything I do even if its’ the littlest thing.
